A State-of-the-Art Review of Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) Controllers

Abstract

Transformations in the electrical sector and increasing consumer demand for electricity are exerting pressure on power networks. Networks must function nearer to their stability limits to do this. Network enhancements are not prioritized over more economical options. A state-of-the-art power electronics method known as FACTS enhances the controllability, stability, and power transfer capacity of alternating current (AC) transmission systems. This paper conducts a comprehensive investigation and evaluation of FACTS controllers.
